the FusionInventory Project

FusionInventory provides a complete, modular and multi-platform solution for :

• Hardware & software inventory (with agent or agentless using SNMP) ;
• Wake On Lan (WOL) ;
• Software deployment using OCS Inventory NG protocol and peer to peer download ;
• Network connected devices (using Netbios, nmap and SNMP).

The project contains different modules :

• FusionInventory-Agent :
  - multi-platform : following operating systems are supported : Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSB, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, MacOS X ;
  - multi-server : the agent can communicate with several servers (for example one or several OCS servers, FusionInventory for GLPI, etc.) ;
  - multiples methods of execution :
  - periodical execution, using cron or task scheduler ;
  - can run as a daemon or service ;
  - can be woke up by the server, using built-in RPC server ;
  - multi-capacity :
  - hardware and software inventory (built-in) :
  - wake on lan (built-in) : works best on Linux, but available on others OS too ;
  - netdiscovery module : discover all network devices using Netbios, nmap and SNMP ;
  - snmpquery module : inventory using SNMP queries (for printers, routers and switches) ;
  - ocsdeploy module : software deployment using OCS Inventory NG protocol and P2P. Requires the agent to be connected to an OCS Inventory Server.
• FusionInventory for GLPI : communication server as a plugin for the GLPI asset management software.
• Libfusioninventory-server-php : PHP library to be embedded into third party applications. Covers hardware & software management for the moment only.

FusionInventory is based on the source of OCS Inventory UNIX Agent and the Tracker plugin for GLPI.
