FusionInventory is used to inventory your IT assets.
Computers inventory
FusionInventory is able to make a complete inventory of computers: hardware and software.
Inventory is performed by an a agent, installed on all computers.
It can be installed on many systems:
- Windows 32 and 64 bits since version 2000
- Linux 32 and 64 bits
- *BSD
- AIX
- HP-UX
- Solaris
- Mac OS X (Intel and PowerPC)
Screenshots of inventories displayed in GLPI are available here.
Network discovery
FusionInventory can scan and discover all devices connected to the network by using the following protocols:
- NMAP
- NetBIOS
- SNMP
During this step, it identifies:
- Network information
- Windows domain information
- SNMP device name (sysdesc)
Remote devices inventory using SNMP
FusionInventory can inventory devices by using the SNMP protocol:
- Identify devices remotly (switch, router, printer…)
- Inventory devices using SNMP
- Get all important informations
For a switch, it retrieves :

Wake up computers with Wake On Lan
FusionInventory is able to wake a computer by another computer : the server issues a wake on lan order and sends it to a an agent running on the network. This agent will send a magic packet to the target computer.
Inventory remote vCenter/ESX/ESXi
FusionInventory can remotly inventory VMware ESX/ESXi/vCenter using VMware SOAP API. The agent is able to retreive :
- Host hardware inventory
- The list of hosted virtual machines
GLPI as user interface
FusionInventory for GLPI doesn’t provides it’s own interface, but tightly integrates in GLPI. By doing so, it relies on GLPI’s framework for authentication, authorizations and display.
There’s no need to learn how to use another interface.
Powerfull task management
FusionInventory for GLPI provides a powerfull task scheduler to perform complex set of commands. For example, you can plan to wake computers at 2 a.m, or perform a network discovery every 30 minutes. The built-in scheduler can also share scan order on a set of available agents.
